A Solders Prayer
All alone on a hot desert night,
Feelings of peace playing tricks on my mind.
A strong wind blows, the sands burning my skin,
Tomorrows another day and I’ll have to do it again.
Comfort, peace and security, the words they have a nice ring,
But living in this foxhole hell, they don’t mean a thing.
I lie to myself hoping I’ll be ok,
I know I ll have to fight, just to live another day.
I heard a voice, so loud and so clear,
Was God speaking to me, I know he is near.
Questions un-answered though I pray everyday,
The Lord he will help me, and show me the way.
I hear the tanks, the guns and the bombs,
Please Lord I beg you, take us safely back to our homes.
We fight for our country, day in and day out,
To keep our freedom, in my mind there’s no dought.
So I ask you oh Lord, get us safely back home,
So our wives and our children won’t be alone..
